Counselor In Training (Ages 14-15)
XL Sports World’s Counselor-in-Training Program is designed for young adults & previous campers who display a high level of maturity and judgment, together with a strong interest in athletics & working with children.
XL’s CIT program is designed to enhance interpersonal and communication skills while fostering independence and self-awareness. This program will give young adults age-appropriate challenges that build their skills, confidence and capacity for working with people of all ages. The CIT program includes internship in all aspects of a counselor's job at camp including training sessions on/practical experience with: basic child development and behavior management, basic first aid, conflict resolution, facility maintenance, counseling techniques and best practices & communication and leadership.
XL will be using the CIT program as an opportunity to train/prepare our incoming part-time staff (once 16 years of age) and will utilize this pool of participants as our first option for staff recruitment.
As our program provides such tremendous learning experience and future opportunities at XL, the CITs will receive reduced registration rate of $99/week.
Please Note: CIT applicants must be 14-15 years of age. We are looking to have completed applications returned by June 1. Applications may be scanned and emailed to or may be dropped off in person at the front desk.
Part-Time Employment (Ages 16+)
XL Sports World is always on the lookout for great coaches and encourages any interested individuals to complete the employment application & questionnaire at any point in time (please be sure to complete both). We are searching for positive, energetic & hardworking young adults/college students (ages 16+).
Employment opportunities at XL Sports World are unlike most others readily available to young adults. We offer a unique opportunity to develop one's leadership, interpersonal & communication skills as well as providing an environment in which young adults can have a positive influence in the lives of children in our community. (Early childhood education majors are encouraged to apply.)
We urge applicants to provide flexible weekday/weekend availability. During the school year, Saturday availability is key as a majority of our programs/activities run that day.

Field Hockey Programs
Sports Camps – multi-sport, soccer, basketball, flag football, baseball, girls field hockey, boys lacrosse

Internships offered at XL Sports World supply practical experience in the sports management field with emphasis on total facility management and the early education field. Individuals can base their experience upon their future career paths and interests. XL internships are not paid positions, but can be applied to completion of a college degree and to gain additional exposure in the sports management field.
Most students will complete a 480 hour internship to satisfy graduation requirements. This equates to 40 hours per week for 12 weeks. Some students will need to stay longer and some will have shorter practicum requirements, which will determine the internship length. These cases will be addressed individually; however, the majority of students will follow the 12 week model.
We promise our students the most complete and well rounded internship experience available. We treat them as staff members, not as college students. Our interns receive on-the-job training and are challenged daily to exceed expectations. Students receive honest feedback, advice, and guidance. We take personal interest in their professional development and preparation for life after college. We do everything in our power to assist students in their job search efforts after completing the internship.
